Privacy Policy

Effective August 10, 2026

The short version. There is no account and no sign-up. We do not ask for your name, email, or payment. We measure traffic in aggregate so we know which tools are useful, and we never sell your data. The Decision Records you build stay in your own browser.

TradesWorkbench runs in your browser. The tools do their math on your device, so most of what you type never leaves your phone or computer. This page explains the limited information we do collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

What we collect and why

Aggregate analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit, which pages and tools get used, and how visitors find us. This sets a first-party analytics cookie so those counts stay accurate. We turn on analytics measurement only. We deny every advertising signal, so this data is not used to build an ad profile of you or to target you with ads.

Alongside that we run our own lightweight, cookieless usage counter. It records simple events like a tool being opened or a result being copied, together with the page path and which engine and trade you were using. It sets no cookies, collects no names or contact details, and it honors your browser Do Not Track setting. If Do Not Track is on, it stays silent.

Hosting and security logs

Our host, Cloudflare, keeps standard server logs to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. These can include your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request. This is ordinary web-server information used to keep the site running and secure, not to identify you.

Your saved preference

If you switch between light and dark mode, we store that single choice in your browser local storage so the site remembers it next time. It stays on your device and is never sent to us.

What we do not collect

Cookies

The only cookie we set is the first-party analytics cookie described above, and we set it only for visitors outside the EU, UK, EEA, and Switzerland. For those regions analytics runs without a cookie (see below). We never use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time, and the tools will still work.

Your choices

You can opt out of analytics with your browser controls, a tracking-protection or ad-blocking extension, or Google's own opt-out add-on. Turning on Do Not Track in your browser also stops our first-party usage counter. None of these choices break the tools.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising. The aggregate analytics and hosting described here are handled by Google and Cloudflare acting as our service providers. We may disclose information if the law requires it, for example to respond to a lawful request.

Visitors in the EU, UK, EEA, and Switzerland

If you visit from the EU, the UK, the wider EEA, or Switzerland, we run analytics without any cookie. No analytics cookie is set for you and no consent is requested, because there is nothing stored on your device to consent to. We measure only anonymous, aggregate visit counts for those regions. That is why you will not see a cookie banner here.

Where our data is handled

Our providers operate globally, so information may be processed in the United States or other countries. The aggregate analytics and hosting are handled by Google and Cloudflare acting as our service providers, under their own safeguards for international transfers.

Children

TradesWorkbench is a tool for tradespeople and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect, we will update this page and its effective date. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
